Pipe Feed and
Turning Tables
Feed
and Turning Table Pictures SCOPE OF WORK FOR A THREADING
LINE
The forklift
operator brings a load of pipe to the outside entry lay racks and deposits
the pipe on these racks. The pipe is
then indexed over onto the in-feed conveyor where it is conveyed into the
building. Upon hitting a stop or
limit switch, the pipe is then indexed over onto the 30’ of inside lay rack
where it runs downhill to threader number 1.
The pipe feed and turning table then indexes and in doing so
simultaneously loads a green tube and discharges a threaded piece of
pipe. The green tube is conveyed
into the threader until it contacts the pipe stop at which time the chucks
clamp the tube and the threading cycle begins and processes the end. The threaded piece of pipe moves on to the
inspection station where the pop up rollers slowly rotates the pipe while it
is gaged and de-burred if necessary.
Upon completion of inspection it moves on to threader number 2 where
an identical chain of events occur as took place at the threader number 1
threading and inspection area. After
inspection at inspection station number 2 the pipe moves to the blow out
station where the coolant and chips are blown out of the pipe by compressed
air. Upon completion of blow out the
pipe rolls down to the bucking unit table where upon indexing the bucking
unit table one completed piece of pipe is discharged and another threaded
pipe is indexed onto the table and then fed into the bucking unit. After the coupling is bucked onto the pipe
and it is end area drifted the pipe is discharged and rolls down to the
out-bound conveyor. Here it is
indexed onto the conveyor and conveyed out of the building. Upon reaching the end of the conveyor it
hits a limit switch and is indexed onto the discharge lay racks where the
operator picks up the pipe and takes it to the hydro-test, full length drift,
weight-tally and stencil area. |
